Heavy smokers don't have any remedy from reduced smoking

In a recently concluded study it has been found that if heavy smokers reduce smoking cigarettes by half of what they actually smoke everyday it will not have a directly proportional relation with the chances of their premature death. This research has been completed over a long period of time and in Norway. The samples included men and woman numbering about 51. They were selected from the age group of 20-34. It was finally revealed that quitting the habit once for all alone helped to reduce the chances of premature death among heavy smokers.

Dr Kjell Bjartveit, former director of the National Health Screening Service has said that smokers should quit the habit at any cost and the biggest motivation factor can be health itself. He was of the opinion that it is the only way to undo the harms done to your health through smoking. Smoking can cause lot of ill effects and the only way to eliminate them was to quit smoking completely. It is certainly not possible to quit smoking instantaneously especially in the case of chain smokers. However this does not give any room or excuse for them to say that gradual reduction and smoking in lesser quantities will not do any good to their health.

Similarly it has also been revealed by British Broadcasting Corporation that the samples of this study were also analyzed on the basis of cardiac tests. This was carried out in the beginning stage and then a study was made based on the tests which lasted for about twenty years.

This study also revealed a strange fact. In the case of men there was a significant reduction in the death rate for people who smoked in lesser number when compared with heavy smokers. However this was not the case with woman smokers. However researches strongly ruled out that no inference could be made out from this as this is a chance finding. These inferences have come in handy for many medical practitioners to dispel the myth that reduced smoking reduces the chances for death for heavy smokers.
