Now that more and more smokers are living in areas where smoking bans are installed, the number of people wanting to give up smoking is growing rapidly. The social side of smoking is in decline now that people are not allowed to light up in restaurants and bars (and many businesses are fearing a decline in their earnings).

There are several different tactics and methods that can be used to quit smoking. There are nicotine patches and chewing gums that you can use to deal with the withdrawal symptoms if you quit smoking. There are several therapies and even self-help books and groups to help you on your way to a smoke-free life.

There is now a new method to help people to stay away from cigarett4es. A drug that is injected into the body of the smoker helps by sending a signal to the brain that blocks the effect of nicotine molecules. Due to this effect a smoker will not feel better because of smoking and the smoker loses all interest in smoking. The effect will be gone and smoking is reduced to simply lighting a cigarette but not enjoying it.

Volunteers are now testing the drug at the Center for Health Behavior Research at University of Maryland in College Park, tells Ivanhoe. If the drug proves to be effective doctors can start using this type of treatment for patients who want and need to quit smoking. There is no clear review of testing so far.
