New drug helps women quit smokingIt has been scientifically proven that women have a much harder time than men when they try to quit smoking. Cravings are worse and as women and their thought patterns are more emotional in their response to things around them (and because women gets stressed quicker and more than men) they have a much harder time to put down a cigarette.A new drug has been developed to help women beat their smoking addiction. This drug helps to beat the effects of smoking and helps women to combat the cravings that come with not smoking. A study of 110 women and men who used to smoke a pack of cigarettes a day for around 25 years has taken place. All these women had attempted to quite smoking several times and they received counseling during the test. The drug used was a nicotine patch containing a drug called Depade. A number of people received the same patch, which was a placebo version of the same patch. After two months there was little difference between the two groups when it comes to quitting smoking. Fewer than half the number of people in every group had actually quit. In the end results showed that more women than men had quit. These women had fewer cravings for cigarettes and basically had less trouble staying away from cigarettes successfully. AT this moment it is not clear if the drug is successful enough to enter the market and more testing is being done. |
