Adrenal GlandsThe adrenal glands are located on top of the kidney and release adrenaline and hormones. These hormones have many uses including the control of heart rate and blood pressure. The adrenal glands have many uses for a person's health and smoking negatively affects the glands that is a good reason to quit smoking. Smoking causes the adrenal glands to release adrenaline, which increases heart rate when stressed. Regular smoking makes the glands repeatedly release adrenaline, which can in turn damage the heart and blood vessels. Smoking can also cause the adrenal glands to release chemicals, which change the body's blood sugar balance and increases the risk of developing diabetes.Smoking causes many adverse side affects to the adrenal glands and this can affect the whole body, even the way that a person stores excess fat can be affected by smoking induced over-production of the adrenal glands. The adrenal glands are important during times of stress as they keep the body going and boost energy. This same boost of adrenalin occurs every time a person smokes a cigarette and these unnecessary boosts of adrenalin can cause serious problems especially to the heart. More Terms Explained Here... |
